Google’s New Mobile Index

Google announced at Pubcon in October that they will be dividing their index to give mobile users better results. This mobile index intends to be their primary index making a separate desktop one less up-to-date. This announcement is one in a long line of not-so-subtle suggestions from Google that you have to be mobile-first oriented when it comes to your website.

Hi and welcome to another Tuesday Tip Video Clip. With this announcement, the signs are clear that if you haven’t already adopted a mobile-first policy in the design and marketing of your dealership, you might be behind the curve. Your primary focus should be your website. If it’s not responsive or doesn’t suit the needs of your customers on mobile devices, your traffic is going tank, your rankings are going to fall and you’re going to be unhappy. Make sure that your site makes it easy to see your inventory, fill out forms, call your dealership and get directions. You should be taking advantage of touch screen features of most smartphones by having large buttons, easy-to-read texts and the ability to click-to-call. In a nutshell, the design of your site should compel a mobile user shop your inventory then convert. Quit waiting for the signs from Google and the digital marketing world to switch your focus to mobile and get started today.
