When it comes to your marketing, you definitely don’t want to be a zombie. We’re talking traditional zombies here, not hyped up running zombies. Zombies keep trudging along at a slow pace, heading in the same direction. If there’s a loud sound or a shiny object, they’ll change directions without thought… and that’s how far too many car dealers approach their marketing plans.
Think about your marketing mix – is there a cohesive plan? Do you have a set strategy with measurable goals? Are you even measuring anything? Are you testing your plan to see if it’s effective?
If you’re trudging along with your marketing plan because it’s what you’ve always done, you’re doing it wrong. If you’re constantly changing directions and trying the next “new thing”, you’re doing it wrong.
Everything you do to market your dealership should be part of a solid marketing plan. The industry has changed significantly over the last few years, and online marketing has gone through some pretty drastic changes as well. You’ve got to be sure that your marketing plan has changed to keep up with the times.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you’re doing something and you don’t know why – ask. If you’re doing something without measuring the results, start measuring them. Make sure that your marketing plan is the right one – or your competitors are going to crush you.
